Description
Environmental Education Association of Seychelles (EEAS) is an NGO established in 2013 that promotes conservation action through environmental education. EEAS functions as an umbrella organisation for a network of environmental educators and other individuals interested in environmental education, and comprises over 20 members. The mission of EEAS is to maximize the potential role environmental educators can play to bring about a peaceful and sustainable future for Seychelles and the planet. Our objectives include promoting and supporting research in environmental education, awareness and communication and sharing of best practices among environmental educators in Seychelles and abroad. We will also seek and provide training opportunities for environmental educators to promote best practices regarding materials and curriculum development, nature interpretation and outdoor learning. We aim to support the production and dissemination of high quality environmental education and awareness materials and methods for diverse audiences within Seychelles. By way of our work we encourage the mainstreaming of environmental education and education for sustainability into formal and informal education programmes in all sectors.
A board of directors elected every year at the AGM governs EEAS. Our board of directors, leaders and volunteers will all commit time to help assist with and oversee project implementation. EEAS has office space in Victoria at the office of Sustainability for Seychelles (S4S). We have access to facilities at UniSey, Ministry of Education, schools, community centres, and CEPS to use as venues for meetings and workshops.
